			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><img class="alignleft" src="http://majarimagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/majarimagazine-lppm-its.jpg" alt="" width="197" height="115" /><a href="http://www.its.ac.id" target="_blank">Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS)</a> Surabaya kini tengah mengembangkan dan mengimplementasikan berbagai energi alternatif. Dalam upaya mengatasi krisis energi, ITS berusaha menghimpun para pakar untuk turut serta mencari solusi permasalahan ini. Pusat Studi Energi dan Rekayasa (PSER) kini sedang memfokuskan tujuannya pada <em>renewable energy</em>.</p>
<p>PSER dibawah Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian Masyarakat (LPPM) ITS telah memetakan potensi-potensi yang ada di ITS khususnya dalam hal energi tebarukan. &#8220;<em>Road map</em>-nya telah ada, semua peneliti yang ada di ITS diundang dan berpartisipasi bersama dalam pengembangan energi terbarukan ini,&#8221; ungkap Prof.Dr.Ir. I Gede Wibawa, M.Eng, ketua Pusat Studi Energi dan Rekayasa <a href="http://www.lppm.its.ac.id" target="_blank">LPPM-ITS</a>.</p>
<p>Sesuai dengan visinya &#8220;Menjadi Pusat Ekselensi dan Konservasi Energi dan Pengembangan Energi Terbarukan&#8221;, PSER memfokuskan diri pada penelitian dan pengembangan energi . PSER juga sedang melakukan pengembangan konservasi energi untuk industri dan perusahaan yang meggunakan sumber energi fosil. Selain itu, juga melakukan studi berkaitan dengan energi yang mempunyai dampak positif pada masyarakat secara luas. &#8220;Itu semua merupakan misi dari PSER, namun fokus tetap pada energi yang terbarukan,&#8221; tambah dosen Teknik Kimia ITS dan guru besar bidang Termodinamika Kimia.Konservasi energi, menurut Gede, dimaksudkan sebagai upaya untuk mengoptimalkan pemenfaatan energi yang bersumber dari fosil.</p>
<h3>Atasi Krisi Dengan Teknologi Tahap Hilir</h3>
<p>Dalam upaya mengatasi krisis energi, ITS mengambil kebijakan yang lebih menyentuh pada permasalahan nyata dengan memberikan perhatian lebih besar kepada pengembangan teknologi tahap hilir. Tahap hilir tersebut dimaksudkan pada teknologi penggunaan energi yang langsung dirasakan oleh masyarakat. Sedangkan teknologi hulu untuk mengantisipasi permasalahan energi beberapa tahun ke depan difokuskan oleh ITS dikemudian hari.</p>
<p>Teknologi renewable energy yang saat ini menjadi fokus ITS diantaranya adalah <em>Biomass Energy, Geothermal Energy, Wind Energy, Hydro Energy, Solar Energy</em>, dan <em>Ocean Energy</em>. Dijelaskan bahwa terdapat tiga sektor yang menjadi sumber <em>Biomass Energy</em>, yaitu <em>forestry</em>, <em>agriculture </em>dan <em>estates</em>. Ketiganya diperhitungkan dapat menghasilkan energi sebesar 50.000 MW. <em>Gerthermal Energy</em> diperkirakan memiliki potensi sebesar 27.000 MW dari 40 persen sumber panas bumi dunia. <em>Hydro Energy</em> diperkirakan mencapai potensi sebesar 75.000 MW. Untuk <em>Solar Energy</em>, terdapat dua teknologi yang telah diaplikasikan, yaitu <em>solar thermal energy</em> dan <em>photovoltaics</em>.</p>
<p>Menurut Gede, ITS juga berencana mencanangkan semacam DME (Desa Mandiri Energi), &#8220;Jadi ketergantungan terhadap sumber energi yang biasanya dan yang semakin menipis (minyak dan gas, red) akan berkurang, selain itu juga untuk membuktikan bahwa kita bisa mandiri energi, &#8221; tutur pria kelahiran Buleleng, 22 Januari 1963 ini. Dengan program-program penelitian tersebut, ITS berharap mampu membantu pemerintah dalam mencapai sasaran kebjakan energi pada tahun 2010.</p>
<h3>Solusi Teknologi yang Telah Diimplementasikan ITS</h3>
<ul>
<li>
<h4>Energi Terbarukan dari Bahan Buangan Industri</h4>
<p>Program ini dilaksanakan oleh Prof.Nonot Soewarno dan Elly Agustiani, M.Eng. Dari program ini didapatkan hasil bawah kolom distilasi untuk duatu industri ethanol 100 kiloliter per hari, sehingga dapat menghemat energi sekitar Rp.125 juta per hari. Selain itu, juga sedang diadakan penelitian untuk pemanfaatan <em>fly</em> dan <em>bottom ash</em> batubara.</li>

<h4>Implementasi Biogas dari Sapi Perah dengan Pemberdayaan Masyarakat</h4>
<p>Penanggungjawab pelaksananya adalah Dr.Eddy Setyadi S. Telah dibangun biodigester dengan volume 60 meter kubik. Biogas tersebut berbahan baku setidaknya dari kotoran 20 ekor sapi. Biogas tersebut mampu menghidupi kompor gas rumah rumah yang terdapat disekitar <em>biodigester</em>.</li>

<h4>Pembuatan Bio-Diesel dan Pemanfaatan Produk Sampingnya</h4>
<p>Penanggungjawab pelaksananya adalah Dr.Bambang Sudarmanto, Prof.Djoko Sungkono dan Prof.Rachimoellah. Dalam hal ini, LPPM ITS bekerja sama dengan Pemkab Madiun dan telah membuat mini plant pabrik biodiesel berkapasitas 100 lt per batch. Hasil akhir mini plant tersebut berupa minyak jarak murni (biokerosin) atau dapat diolah lebih lanjut menjadi biodiesel. Spesifikasi biokerosin: FFA &lt; 5 persen, kadar air &lt; 2 persen, dan kadar fosfor &lt; 40 ppm, sedangkan spesifikasi biodiesel telah sesuai dengan Standar Nasional Indonesia (SNI)</li>
<li>
<h4>Picohydro dan Microhydro Untuk Daerah Terpencil</h4>
<p>Pelaksana program ini adalah Dr.Prabowo. Program ini berupa pemasangan <em>microhydro </em>dengan kapasitas 10-50 kW.</li>
<li>
<h4>Pengembangan Sel Surya</h4>
<p>Pelaksana program ini adalah Prof.Eddy Yahya. Diperlukan setidaknya 5M untuk membuat pabrik sel surya, yakni <em>Market, Material, Machinery Technology, Man, and Money</em>. Untuk <em>Machinery, Man, and Money</em> telah tersedia di Indonesia. Dalam hal <em>Material</em>, Indonesia adalah negara kedua yang memiliki material terbanyak.</li>
<li>
<h4>Audit Energy Untuk Mencapai Konservasi Energi.</h4>
<p>Penanggung jawab pelaksananya adalah Ali Musyafa, M.Sc . Melalui sebuah audit energi, dapat dicapai penghematan konsumsi energi di berbagai gedung dan industri. Beberapa audit yang telah dilakukan di antaranya adalah di Graha Pangera, RS Mata dan berbagai jenis industri lainnya. Audit energi ini dapat menghemat konsumsi energi (dalam KWH/m2 per tahun) hingga 50% dari standar SNI yang diterapkan di industri atau lokasi tersebut.</li>

<p>Desa Mandiri Energi adalah desa yang dapat menyediakan energi bagi desa itu sendiri sehingga bisa membuka lapangan kerja, mengurangi kemiskinan dan menciptakan kegiatan-kegiatan produktif. Desa Mandiri Energi terdiri dari dua jenis yaitu Desa Mandiri Energi yang dikembangkan dari non-bahan bakar nabati seperti yang menggunakan mikrohidro, tenaga surya, atau biogas serta Desa Mandiri Energi yang menggunakan bahan bakar nabati seperti biofuel.</p>
<p>“Dari 2.000 desa itu, masing-masing 1.000 desa untuk setiap jenisnya,” ujar Menteri Energi dan Sumber Daya Mineral (ESDM) Purnomo Yusgiantoro. Saat ini di Indonesia terdapat 100 Desa Mandiri Energi dengan bahan bakar non-nabati di 81 kabupaten dan 40 Desa Mandiri Energi yang menggunakan bahan bakar nabati yang merupakan binaan tujuh departemen yaitu departemen ESDM, Pertanian, Tenaga Kerja dan Transmigrasi, Kementerian Negara Daerah Tertinggal, Kementerian BUMN, dan Departemen Kelautan.</p>
<p>“Tujuan pengembangan Desa Mandiri Energi ada beberapa yang terutama adalah pengurangan kemiskinan dan membuka lapangan kerja, kalau bisa sampai akhir kabinet dapat mengurangi pengangguran hingga 1 juta orang, mengurangi kemiskinan disamping juga untuk mensubstitusi bahan bakar minyak,” katanya seraya menambahkan bahwa di Indonesia terdapat 70 ribu desa dimana 45 persen diantaranya desa tertinggal.</p>
<h3>Pemprov Jatim &#8211; ITS Bangun Desa Mandiri Energi dengan Mikrohidro</h3>
<p>Pemerintah Provinsi Jawa Timur menggandeng Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian Masyarakat (LPPM) ITS untuk membangun desa mandiri energi. Hasil kerjasama tersebut berupa rencana pembangunana pembangkit listrik tenaga mikrohidro dengan efisiensi yang besar. Dalam kerjasama tersebut, LPPM-ITS bertugas merekayasa tenaga mikrohidro agar efisiensinya lebih tinggi.</p>
<p>Menurut Dr.Ir.Prabowo, M.E, sekertaris Pusat Studi Energi dan Rekayasa LPPM-ITS, tahap rekayasa yang dilakukan LPPM-ITS adalah mendisain turbin air. Perancangan ini dilakukan agar hilangnya pasokan tenaga lebih kecil sehingga dapat meningkatkan efisiensi energi.</p>
<p>Mikrohidro merupakan pembangkit listrik tenaga air skala kecil dan mempunyai prinsip mirip dengan Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Air (PLTA). Energi yang dihasilkan mikrohidro terbilang tidak besar bila dibandingkan degan PLTA skala industri, akan tetapi peralatan dan areal tanah yang diperlukan cukup kecil untuk instalasi dan operasi mikrohidro. “Ini merupakan salah satu keunggulan mikrohidro, yakni tidak menimbulkan kerusakan lingkungan,” jelas Prabowo.</p>
<p>Hasil penelitian LPPM-ITS sejak tahun 2004 ini diklaim cocok untuk diterapkan di pedesaan yang belum terjangkau listrik dari PLN. LPPM-ITS telah melakukan mapping daerah-daerah di Jawa Timur yang berpotensi dibangun instalasi mikrohidro, dan dari hasil dari feasibility study sejak bulan Mei 2008 tersebut, terpilih lima lokasi di Jawa Timur yang akan dibangun instalasi mikrohidro. Daerah-daerah tersebut adalah Probolinggo, Situbondo, Banyuwangi, dan dua lokasi di Jember. “Saat ini proyek mikrohidro ini sudah dalam keadaan siap dibangun, ” tutup Prabowo.</p>

My class uses an international curriculum, and we won&#8217;t take the UAN exam in the 12th grade, thus forcing us to go to universities in overseas. My question is, can you help me list some of the world&#8217;s best chemical engineering universities? I&#8217;ve NUS and NTU in mind, but besides that, I don&#8217;t really know others.</em></p>
