Hasil riset pada journal Conservation Biology menemukan bahwa mempertahankan hutan hujan tropis merupakan jalan yang lebih baik dari pada mengkonversikannya menjadi ladang tanaman biofuel. Konversi ini akan memperburuk perubahan iklim karena menggantikan salah satu tempat penyimpanan karbon paling penting di dunia: hutan hujan tropis.
